Modern Escapism blends djent, shoegaze, and metalcore in a way that’s super difficult to describe. It’s melancholy and surrendering yet somehow open and driven at the same time. The best way to put it is, “it’s just a vibe.”
My first introduction to this EP was the track Where the Light Takes Us—thanks Ben for sending it to me. In particular, I love how the vocal production, which is kinda ethereal and haunting, contrasts with the technical (and very crisply produced) drum parts. The breakdown in the final minute demonstrates a lot of musical versatility, too.
