Hoist the Colours is another jam-packed metalcore EP with fantastic instrumentals. Even listeners who are accustomed to screaming vocals might be surprised by the complete lack of cleans, despite there being several vocalists. However, this consistency gives the album a unique, continuously high-octane feel.
I love the drumming in this EP, and have stolen several ideas from tracks like “Hoist the Colours” and “This Is Not Goodbye, It’s A Fond Farewell”. It’s always been a great source of motivation to continue working on double pedal dexterity and left hand speed.
